Day 1: Delhi to Amritsar

After your driver receives you from the venue you’re staying at, get to the railway station to board a train to Amritsar. You’ll reach Amritsar around 1:30 in the afternoon and will be received by a guide who will be taking you to different places. First, he will take you to the hotel where you will stay. Then you will be visiting Wagah border, which was once the connecting street between India and Pakistan. Here you will be watching a function in which the flags of the two countries are brought down before dusk every day. This function is a houseful show every day.  Watch the soldiers get ready for the show. The huge iron gates of the two countries are opened as the flags of the countries are brought down to terminate the unity with the setting sun. The show is closed by a short handshake between the officers at the end of the gates.

Amritsar was established in 1579 by the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das. Guru Ram Das was succeeded by his youngest son; Guru Arjan Dev. Amritsar represents a pool of nectar and the famous Golden Temple is established amidst a huge pool of water.
