Valid Passport: Check that your passport has at least six months of validity remaining beyond the date you land in India.
India Visa or e-Visa: Submit your tourist e-Visa application through India's official government portal and pick from 30-day, 1-year or 5-year validity terms. This facility covers travelers from more than 160 countries, while citizens of Nepal and Bhutan don't need any visa at all. Keep a printed copy of your approved e-Visa on hand for immigration checks, and land in India through one of the 33 approved airports or 9 approved seaports.
Return or Onward Ticket: Keep your return or onward travel ticket within reach, since immigration staff can ask to see it when you land.
Proof of Accommodation: Be ready to show your hotel confirmation, host information or a flexible booking if requested, though paying in full upfront isn't a requirement.
Travel Insurance: Not compulsory, though we strongly suggest arranging it before you fly out.
Backup Copies of Documents: Carry both digital and printed copies of your e-Visa, passport, hotel confirmation and full itinerary with you at every stage of the trip.
