Delhi is several cities in one. Old Delhi preserves the Mughal capital Shah Jahan built in the 17th century. New Delhi features grand avenues and government buildings, while South Delhi is home to historic monuments dating back hundreds of years. Choose a private sightseeing tour based on the places and experiences you most want to discover.
1. Full-Day Old and New Delhi City Tour
See both sides of India’s capital in a single day.
This tour offers a comprehensive introduction to Delhi. Begin in Old Delhi at Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques. A cycle-rickshaw ride takes you through the busy lanes of Chandni Chowk, followed by a view of the red sandstone walls of the Red Fort. Continue to Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.
After lunch, explore Humayun’s Tomb, the Mughal garden tomb that helped inspire later Mughal architecture, including the Taj Mahal. Continue to Qutub Minar, a 73-metre tower whose construction began in 1193. Finish with a drive along Kartavya Path, passing Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament before reaching India Gate.
Best for: First-time visitors who want to experience Delhi’s major historical landmarks in one day.
2. Old Delhi Sightseeing Tour
Step into the historic Mughal city that still moves to its own rhythm.
Old Delhi was founded as Shahjahanabad in 1639, and its narrow lanes and traditional markets preserve much of its historic character. Visit Jama Masjid and explore the area around the Red Fort before walking through Chandni Chowk, one of the city’s best-known market districts.
Discover Khari Baoli, famous for its spices, Kinari Bazaar’s wedding decorations and Dariba Kalan’s traditional silver shops. A visit to Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib offers another perspective on the old city’s religious history and living traditions.
Best for: History enthusiasts, photographers and travellers who want to explore Old Delhi beyond its main landmarks.
3. New Delhi Sightseeing Tour
Discover grand avenues, historic tombs and the architecture of New and South Delhi.
Explore some of the capital’s most recognised landmarks with a local guide. Visit India Gate, the war memorial at the end of Kartavya Path, and see the grand government buildings around Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament.
Continue to Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Depending on your interests and the day’s schedule, finish at the Lotus Temple, known for its distinctive marble-petal design, or enjoy a quieter walk among the historic tombs and gardens of Lodhi Garden.
Best for: Travellers interested in architecture, Mughal history and Delhi’s most famous sights.
4. Delhi Evening & Night Tour
Watch India’s capital take on a different character after sunset.
As evening falls, India Gate and Kartavya Path become popular gathering places for families and visitors. Explore the illuminated surroundings, then consider an evening visit to Akshardham for its scheduled water show, subject to operating days and availability.
Your itinerary can also include Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, known for its welcoming atmosphere and community kitchen, followed by dinner or a relaxed walk around Connaught Place.
Akshardham is generally closed on Mondays, so the evening route can be adjusted around other attractions.
Best for: Travellers with limited daytime availability, visitors arriving later in the day and anyone keen to experience Delhi after dark.
5. Old Delhi Food Tour
Taste the dishes and traditions that made Old Delhi famous.
Old Delhi’s food streets have served generations of residents, traders and visitors. Join your guide to discover local flavours and traditional favourites, with stops that may include:
- Crisp stuffed parathas in Paranthe Wali Gali
- Spicy chaat from local food stalls
- Freshly prepared jalebis
- Kebabs around the Jama Masjid area
- Traditional kulfi for a refreshing finish
At each stop, your guide shares the stories, customs and family traditions behind Delhi’s food culture. The exact selection depends on opening hours and availability.
Please tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements when enquiring. We can discuss suitable options with you before the tour.
Best for: Food lovers and curious travellers who want to discover Delhi through its local kitchens and market streets.
6. Delhi Temple & Spiritual Tour
Explore the places of worship and traditions that shape everyday life in Delhi.
Delhi’s religious heritage reflects several faiths and communities. Depending on opening hours and the route, your private tour can include:
- Akshardham: A large Hindu temple complex known for its detailed stonework and architecture.
- Lotus Temple: A Bahá’í House of Worship that welcomes people of all faiths.
- Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: A prominent Sikh place of worship with a community kitchen serving visitors.
- Jama Masjid: A major Mughal-era mosque in Old Delhi.
- Laxminarayan Temple (Birla Mandir): A well-known Hindu temple dedicated to Lakshmi and Narayana.
Your guide explains local customs and etiquette, including covering your head at a gurudwara, removing footwear where required and following each site’s photography rules. Akshardham has restrictions on phones and photography inside its complex.
Best for: Travellers interested in spiritual heritage, religious architecture and Delhi’s living traditions.
Discover Delhi: A City of Contrasts
Delhi has served as a centre of power for different empires and dynasties over many centuries. Its history is visible in the contrast between a Mughal-era market, a grand government boulevard and a modern place of worship. A private city tour helps you explore these different sides at a comfortable pace.
Old Delhi: Historic Streets and Traditional Markets
Old Delhi grew around Shahjahanabad, the walled city established by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. Jama Masjid, the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk are among its best-known landmarks. Nearby lanes are lined with specialist markets selling spices, silverware, fabrics and traditional goods. The streets can be crowded, making a knowledgeable local guide especially useful.
New and South Delhi: Monuments and Grand Architecture
New Delhi was developed as India’s imperial capital in the early 20th century. Its broad avenues and monumental buildings include Kartavya Path, India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan. Further south, historic landmarks tell the story of earlier periods:
- Qutub Minar: A towering example of architecture from the Delhi Sultanate period, begun in 1193.
- Humayun’s Tomb: A landmark Mughal garden tomb and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Lodhi Garden: A green public space containing historic tombs from the 15th and 16th centuries.
Delhi’s three UNESCO World Heritage Sites are the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and the Qutub Minar complex. Whether you visit all three depends on your selected itinerary and available time.
Delhi After Dark
After sunset, illuminated landmarks and lively public spaces reveal another side of the capital. India Gate attracts evening visitors, while selected attractions offer scheduled evening experiences. You can also explore Connaught Place for restaurants, cafés and a relaxed end to your sightseeing day.
Delhi Through Food and Faith
Food and worship reveal the everyday life of Delhi beyond its monuments. A food tour introduces the flavours of Old Delhi’s market lanes, while a spiritual tour explores the city’s places of worship and the traditions practised by different communities.

Helpful Tips for Planning Your Delhi Sightseeing Tour
- Start early. An early start can help you avoid some traffic and explore popular monuments before the busiest hours.
- Check weekly closures. The Red Fort and Akshardham are generally closed on Mondays. Check the Lotus Temple’s current opening schedule before finalising your route.
- Plan around market hours. Some Old Delhi markets have weekly closing days, and individual shops may follow different schedules. Confirm if shopping is a priority.
- Dress respectfully. Wear clothing suitable for religious sites, and carry a scarf if needed for covering your head.
- Wear comfortable shoes. Old Delhi lanes and monument grounds involve walking. Some religious sites require you to remove your footwear.
- Carry some cash. Small vendors and some food stalls may prefer cash payments.
- Choose the right season. October to March is generally more comfortable for sightseeing. From April to June, temperatures can exceed 40°C, so plan outdoor visits for cooler hours.
- Check entry requirements. Monument opening times, ticket rules, photography restrictions and special events can change. Confirm the details before travel.
